Nontron: the name of France's first and oldest knife (from 1653). Nontron knives have been made by hand in the Perigord region of France since the 15th century. Each knife is an original work, the blade is from forged steel and the boxwood used for the handles is left to air dry for five years before being shaped and hand decorated with ancient wood burned figures of unknown meaning. These beautiful crafted objects are fashioned in the tiny village of Nontron employing the same methods and techniques for the past five hundred years.
