Inner View with Caleb Franklin

Caleb F Sims is owner of C. Franklin Design. Caleb grew up in the Skagit Valley, lived in Los Angeles for 3 years studying acting and performing arts before moving back to Seattle-proper to begin his career in floral and event design.

"I love the energy shift in a room with the addition of botanicals; experiencing nature in an environment which has quite literally been built to keep nature out. I believe my work has also been inspired by my time acting in LA, using the psychology of how individuals perceive space, color, and interact with their environment. In my free time I'm usually browsing the antique malls around Seattle, or taking a long weekend to recharge with family at our home on Lake Whatcom in Bellingham."

WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU OR WHERE DO YOU FIND INSPIRATION?
I take a lot of inspiration from the Dutch Masters and the Golden Age. I could gaze at Flemish still life paintings for hours.

WHAT CAN YOU NOT LIVE WITHOUT?
Candlelight!!!

WHEN ARE YOU MOST HAPPY OR IN BALANCE
That first sip of red wine after a long day crafting florals.

HOW HAS TIME OVER HE LAST YEAR/COVID-19 QUARANTINE BEEN?  THOUGHTS?  DISCOVERIES?  PROJECTS?
Introspective. My entire wedding season was cancelled, and I was fortunate to take the time to get back into therapy and work on my mental health. Since it was all very rough financially, I shifted to creating with foraged materials which I believe has enhanced my design aesthetic for the better!

IF YOU COULD TRAVEL ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE?
Positano, Italy.
