The cartocci collection is a series of unique sculptures made of paper and clay, each one a little different from the others, with its own strong personality. They are completely handmade in a long and complex procedure, yet the finished effect is light, airy and effortless.
The size and shape of each piece evolves during the process of forming and firing. The artist has control over some of the elements while others are subject to the nature of the paper and clay materials. The inevitable differences are to be seen as individual, unique beauty and value. There are no two sculptures exactly the same!
The artist Paola Paronetto was born in Pordenone in 1965. She began her ceramic training in Gubbio, where she learned many exceptional clay working techniques.
Paola continued her art form by participating in an intense series of professional courses in Deruta, Faenza, Florence and Vicenza. The continual development of artistic skills as well as the artists ongoing research has lead her to this unique combination of paper and clay. She now prefers this beautiful technique over others and the results are simply breathtaking!
