Mussel shell formed of white bisque porcelain designed by Ted Muehling
Inspired by the historical creations of the porcelain manufactory, designer Ted Muehling has created a series of vessels, under the collection aptly named Maritime. The curved shapes find reference in found objects of marine life: corals, shells and snails.
WHY WE LOVE IT
The mold making studio is the heart of the manufactory. This is where the plaster molds are made for the casting of figures as well as objects that cannot be thrown on the potter's wheel. Manufacturing requires a large degree of know-how and a high level of technical skill. Large and complex Nymphenburg designs must be cast as individual elements and then assembled, retouched and engraved to become the desired whole.
