Inner View With Estelle Thyer

Jane’s eldest daughter Estelle was our first muse and, along with her brother Guy, a persistent force and the most recognizable face from the days of our original Children’s Clothier Travelbooks.  

Estelle grew up in and amongst flora and henri, being the last resort at the end of a long day, asked to put on just one more outfit, for just one more shot.  

It was such fun to have her back on the Beach House photoshoot, along with brother Guy, 24 years after their first photoshoot in Santa Barbara for their mother’s burgeoning business. Their energy, ease and fun loving-nature made for such an unforgettable day of shooting.

 Estelle is now a Seattle Resident, graduate of NYU and 9 years of living in New York City and working in advertising, food and wine, the arts in events.  She continues that job today in event production and coordination working at Swift Group with Microsoft. www.lapetitetoile.com

She continues to be the inspiration and muse behind the brand, keeping us young, fresh and forever in the know of emerging talent.

Honestly, I do get a lot of inspiration from social media… My personal design blog is something I’ve maintained for a long time, and always a source. La Petite Etoile I’m a huge fan of Athena Calderone (@eyeswoon) whose book you carry at the shop, and always love looking through lifestyle magazines and cookbooks. Most importantly though, I am continually inspired by my mother and the beautiful world of Flora & Henri!

WHEN ARE YOU MOST HAPPY OR IN BALANCE?

When I’m home in Seattle, spending time with family and friends, or in the mountains, hiking, swimming, or skiing!

HOW HAS YOUR TIME IN QUARANTINE BEEN?  PROJECTS?  THOUGHTS? DISCOVERIES?

I have spent the majority of quarantine in the mountains, where I’ve discovered a new love of the outdoors and spending time alone there (with the pup!). I’ve explored the sourdough movement, but feel that’s probably best left to the pros. Mostly I’ve been cooking for the people I love, and simply enjoying that.

I would love to go to Portugal with one of my best girlfriends. It’s a trip we had to cancel due to the pandemic, but is still definitely on my list for next year (I hope!). At this present moment, I would love to be anywhere in the world with my grandmother in Australia who I miss and haven’t seen in over two years now.

That’s such a hard one! Anyone who knows me knows how much I love all of the Janessa Leone hats you carry, especially the packable styles because I travel a lot for work and pleasure. However, Extreme Cashmere will always have a special place in my heart... I wish I could bathe in it!
