Alimrose

The business (formerly Native Bush Babies & founded by Susan Shardlow) began in the very early 1980’s when two mothers were tired of not being able to access Australian designed dolls and products for their children. This inspired them to begin their own company. The company originally made Australian themed dolls and figurines based around the charming characters from the stories of the famed May Gibbs. Over the years the range grew and eventually included a large range of beautiful dolls, soft toys, rattles, bibs, quilts & home wares. In 1997 the company changed its trading name from Native Bush Babies to Alimrose (which represents a combination of favourite family names and at the same time accommodated a broader range & style of children’s gifts). Since then, Alimrose has gone from strength to strength and is sold in over 800 stores worldwide. Being a family run business they have always valued a long term and loyal partnerships with manufacturers. They work closely with a small number of ethical manufacturers (SEDEX approved) and are continually assessing the best ways to improve production and supply whilst being as environmentally conscious as they can. The Alimrose range of dolls and toys are proudly made by a female owned and operated ethical production facility in the Philippines that they have been working with for close to 40 years. By working loyally together for decades they have been able to support their business to employee over 100 women and provide them with outstanding wages and conditions.
